Benefits for wheat

Why Kanzama®?

The image shows the effect of plants treated with Kanzama® compared to an uninoculated control. Kanzama® enhances the availability of essential nutrients such as Nitrogen and Phosphorus. The improved nutrient uptake contributes to increase overall plant biomass.

Results for wheat

Results from trials conducted in different sites across different production regions

In efficacy trials conducted in Argentina across different production regions, the use of Kanzama® showed a positive response in wheat yield, driven by its mechanisms of enhancing nutrient availability and uptake, as well as improved tolerance to abiotic stress conditions.

UNINOCULATED CONTROL

Illustrative purposes only. Depiction not to scale. The results were obtained under Argentine growing conditions and are not guaranteed to replicate in the US.

Everything you need to know about the science and technology behind Kanzama® in wheat.

What is Kanzama®?

Kanzama® is a liquid microbial inoculant for seed treatment in wheat and barley, developed from extremophile bacteria (organisms that live in highly hostile environments, such as the Argentine Puna). It is composed of Priestia megaterium strain CK60, a natural (non-GMO) microorganism that helps crops grow better, even under adverse conditions since it enhances availability of plant essential nutrients through the root system, even under stress conditions like drought and salinity, owing to the extremophilic nature of the strain.

How does Kanzama® work in wheat?

Once applied to the seed, the bacteria adheres to the root and colonizes the interior of the plant.

There, it performs two main functions:

  • Fixes nitrogen from the air, converting it into forms the plant can absorb. Helping to the improvement of the crop yield

  • Solubilizes phosphorus from the soil.

This provides wheat with greater access to nutrients, helping to the improvement of the crop yield.

Does Kanzama® replace chemical fertilizers?

No. Kanzama® does not replace fertilizers but complements their use.
It improves nitrogen efficiency, can allow dose reductions in some cases, and enhances nutrient uptake.

It is ideal as part of a more sustainable and efficient integrated crop management strategy.
